RESEMBLANCE WITH THE GAME "glotski"

is not a coincidence at all. Even this README file is modified from
"glotski"'s. I enjoyed Martin Hock's game "glotski" (0.2) a lot, but
was a little frustrated about not being able to push one piece with
another. And even more so when I didn't manage to modify the code to
that effect, so I decided to rewrite it. The GUI code is almost
unchanged. Since the game works, I might as well share it. Perl
programmers may want to look at the (not very good) Gnome/Gtk code.

HOW TO PLAY:

The pieces on the board may be dragged around by clicking on them and
dragging the mouse, as if they were blocks of wood on a flat
surface. They cannot move one on another, or slide out of the
window. The goal the game is to bring some pieces to a given position,
which is shown by clicking on the "target" button.

FILE FORMAT:

Each puzzle is represented in a file, in a simple text format : have a
look to any 'data/*.lev' file.

Files in a similar format can be found at Nick Baxter's Sliding Block
Home Page at:

A NOTE ABOUT THE PACKAGED PUZZLES:

These puzzles are for the most part packaged with glotski-0.2.

Martin Hock said :

# I have decided to only package level files that I am as sure as I
# can be are in the public domain. These are levels that were either
# patented quite some time ago and thus the patents have expired, or
# were manufactured by several unrelated companies and thus have been
# established as generic. If someone wants to provide me with advice
# about this issue, I certainly would welcome it. Furthermore, if
# anyone makes any puzzles that they want included, contact me. (You
# will retain copyright, but they will be placed under the GPL.)
# Some "Rush Hour"-ish puzzles as well as puzzles with multiple goals
# would be nice; there currently are no such puzzles distributed.
# The more puzzles I can include, the better. The puzzles are
# currently all taken from Hordern's book.

I too hope no patented puzzle is packaged here. I will remove from
the distribution any puzzle if I suspect that it is patented.
